Apparently buying an oversized bag makes a woman feel like she is getting more for her money and there’s extra value in this year’s trend of oversized bags. I heard one female colleague state that they make our bum look smaller. But the simple fact is that bags always fit - even more so than shoes. For there is no discrimination on height or weight in a bag. Let’s face it, we love our bags. People are even blogging on how they feel about their handbags...
While the smallest or oversized bags this season are available in day or night versions, more than anything they are expected to be convenient, featuring a large number of easily accessible pockets and storage spaces. I can't go past the Louis Vuitton Monogram Manhattan.
In XXS versions, bags this season look like jewels adorned with feathers or even lucky charms. Precious and ultra feminine for the night, they are perfectly sized to pocket our mobile phone or powder compact. Fashion handbags are now a $5 billion industry, and a growing number of women are renting bags instead of buying them. There is a thought that bags can even change our personality from day to day. Like a disguise that we put on with our perfume in the morning and take off with our makeup in the evening.
...but with all the options available to us, it appears that the day clutch is definitely the new favourite...
