Christian Louboutin - the Sole Man (LINK)
August 9th 2008 09:47
All hail Christian Louboutin, the Parisian shoe designer and creative genius whose red soled slinky stilettos and towering platform shoes have become a trademark around the world.
From his home town of Paris where Louboutin was first inspired to design shoes for the showgirls at the Paris nightclub, The Palace - to Romans-sur-Isère, the centre of France's footwear industry, where he trained as an apprentice at Charles Jourdan's shoe factory, Louboutin has gone from strength to strength. In 2007 his business boasted retail sales of £132 million, and he has just opened a second London shop, in Mount Street, Mayfair. This year the designer is set to open stores in Las Vegas, Singapore and Jakarta.
Today an A list of Celebrity followers including Sienna Miller, Oprah, Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow and Beyonce seek Louboutin out for his exquisitely crafted designs that cost upwards of £400 each.
An intense perfectionist, he had overseen the production of every pair of shoes since he set up his business 15 years ago... Could he be following in the footsteps of the infamous bootier Master - Massaro? Louboutin is most definitely a designer to keep an eye on!!
But if I were you I would take your tired little toes on the journey of their life to 19 rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau 75001 Paris and see for yourself!
