Balllet Look

July 11th 2009 10:09
so right now i love the dancer look
now i know, this is kind of old. it's been in style for 3 or 4 seasons now, but i just recently remembered it.
by the way, i am a dancer--i take classical Indian Bharatnatyam, tap, jazz, modern, and choreography and in the past i have taken ballet and acrobatics classes with individual classes in african modern, salsa, and yoga.

anyways

so the ideal dancer look involves the basic black cutoff tights (cut right on the calf, semi sheer, nice if they have a little run in them or are a little scraggly) and a leotard to go under the rest of the look. dancers prefer solid colored leotards that are very plain (usually black, but you don't have to do that. you're going for a look, which means it isnt actually all that accurate).

over this (to make it decent) i would wear a wrap sweater and, although most bottoms would look awkward with this and it would be easier to just not wear any at all, you might look a little weird unless you either are extremely confident or live in a large city, you could wear tiny cottom shorts in a sweats fabric that are tight. you could also wear a denim mini, which would look pretty cute.

this is so delicate it can only handle a thin bracelet or chain necklace with a delicate pendant, something like those classic little tiffany silver items (which a billion preppy girls have, but ah well its quite fitting. noted there are also a billion little ballet dancing girls)

and i saved the harshest for last.
i must say this because i dont want to encourage something that will not look good on you.
this look is pretty much for skinny girls.

i won't do this again,
i hate the industry for slimming down our point of view and all those modeling agencies for telling gorgeous girls they need to lose weight (or fix their nose or boobs or smile for that matter) but i'll save that cliche rant for another day when i cant think of anything.
